Talk-trait of the nation

Actress Joanna Page loves to chat with her nearest and dearest, so it came as no surprise to us that she’s a Happy Chatter according to our Talk-traits quiz.

She’ll be joining the BT Living Room tour in Cardiff to see if the rest of her home nation prefers a good natter, or if the chit is getting in the way of the chat.

But what does the rest of the nation think?

Actress Joanna Page:
I have the best chats with my mum on the phone.  I think we all do, don’t we, because mums always make time to have a proper chat.  Living in London, our chats on the phone are really important to me.  If I’m on the sofa on the home phone, I can just relax with no other distractions and we’ll talk about shopping, what clothes she’s bought, what I’ve bought, what my dad’s been up to, how my nan is, what things she’s watching on TV, my auditions, my meetings… all sorts. My ingredients for a proper chat on the phone are a nice cup of tea, some biscuits and the dog on my lap.

Adam Dean, aged 36, Derbyshire:
At home I’m more relaxed. Even if they’re calling to arrange something you end up getting into small talk when you are at home. You have a proper conversation.

Anne-Marie Prescott, aged 32, Middlesex:
If it’s an important call, to the girls, I’ll make sure my son is in bed, then it’s PJs on, glass of wine, on the sofa. It’s my ‘Sex and the City’ girly moment.

Phil Gibson, aged 34, Yorkshire:
My best calls are when I’m just lying around in the house and not doing much else. That means I’m concentrating on the call rather than other things.

Joe Jackson, aged 28, Nottinghamshire:
On a landline I tend to phone family and really relax and concentrate. I focus on what they are saying.
